Chakra comes from the Sanskrit word “cakra,” which means “wheel,” and refers to the unseen spinning wheels of energy in the body. The Chakra system originated in the ancient Indian Vedic texts, between 1500 and 500 BCE. When the Chakras are open and aligned, prana, or life-energy, is able to flow through the body and we are able to access optimal physical, spiritual, and emotional vitality. The seven fundamental chakras include the Root chakra (Muladhara), Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana), Solar Plexus chakra (Manipura), Heart chakra (Anahata), Throat chakra (Vishuddha), Third Eye chakra (Ajna), and the Crown chakra (Sahasrara).
